Altenhein, James E., Age 67, of East Northport, formerly of
Huntington, died suddenly on June 22, 2013. Born in Mt. Vernon, NY, Jim grew up in Peekskill, NY. He was the beloved son of the late Ernest Altenhein and Virginia Bocard Altenhein. father of Patrick James Altenhein.
Loving brother of Elizabeth Altenhein of Providence, R.I. and Henry Altenhein of
Portland, Oregon and caring Uncle of Francis, Jenny and Roisin McManus of
Brooklyn, NY. Jim served in The U.S. Air Force. He was a retired welder and 20 year member of International Ironworkers Union Local 361 & Local 40. He was
a passionate member of the Huntington Bike Club. Jim volunteered at The
Wilson House in Vermont. Jim took great pride and joy in his sobriety family. His 35 years of sobriety was enhanced by his immeasurable contributions to countless others seeking to overcome alcohol addiction. Visiting Hours will be Thursday evening 3:30 - 5:30 at The M.A. Connell Funeral Home, 934 New York Ave. Huntington Station. This will be followed by a Sobriety-Memorial
service to be held at The Sobriety First meeting hall at 6 PM at The West
Hills United Methodist Church located at 301 West Hills Rd. All are
welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, tax deductible donations in Jims memory may be made to The Wilson House, P.O. Box 46, East Dorset, Vermont 05253.
