Obituary of Theresa Connor
Please share a memory of Theresa to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Theresa “Terry” Connor (nee: Pape) was born on June 28th, 1930 in the Bronx, New York. Born to Catherine and John Pape, she was the youngest of five children.
A proud Bronx native, Terry met the love of her life, David Connor and they married on November 11th, 1950. Together they raised their family in Plainview, New York. While her children were young, she was a founding and active member of St. Pius X Parish. Her Catholic faith was central in her life. When she moved to Huntington she became a dedicated parishioner at St. Patricks. She started each day by attending the 9 o’clock daily Mass. She passed this faith on to her family, many of whom gathered to say the rosary with her in recent days.
Terry’s career was spent as a physician’s assistant at a very busy OBGYN practice. For nearly 35 years she worked in the medical field. Terry was their right hand in providing medical and emotional assistance to the patients.
A great conversationalist, Terry was sharp as a tack and up-to-date on all current topics, which she was happy to give her opinion, sometimes to the chagrin of her family. Terry loved dancing at family gatherings and parties, winning at games of bridge and cheering on her beloved New York Mets. She drank her one glass of chardonnay with ice cubes and loved a good strawberry milkshake during the summer months.
Terry died peacefully October 28th surrounded by her loving family. Adored wife of the late David Connor, cherished mother of Deborah Callahan (Dan), the late Timothy Connor, the late Michael Connor, Christopher Connor (Ellen), and Kelly Coventry and aunt of her beloved nephew John Devine and Janet Gambardella She was the matriarch of a big clan that included 15 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, all of whom were the light of her life. Terry would be the first to tell us that this isn’t goodbye, as we’ll all be together again.
