My heart is with my dear cousins in New York, as they mourn the great loss of their father and their children's Opa. In 1969, Henry married my mom's twin sister Carol and together, Henry and Carol had three children, Karen, Kevin and Cyndi, who lived around the corner from us our whole lives. Holidays, birthdays, BBQ, you name it! They are our dearest family in New York. Henry was also one of my dad's fraternity brothers at Hofstra, and one of his closest friends to the very end. I will miss my uncle Hank's laugh and how he would always call me "Cheeeeryl." Starting in my teenage years, we would play silly food pranks at the dinner table - the best of which was when he replaced the whipped cream on my pecan pie with SOUR CREAM at a very nice dinner at the George Washington Manor in Roslyn. He was proud of his German heritage and when I met my husband Thomas, they bonded over their mutual love for German culture and language. Speaking of proud, Hank was an incredibly proud father and Opa, and his family meant everything to him. Words cannot express how much Uncle Hank will be missed! Our heartfelt condolences to our dear friends Carol,Karen,Kevin,Cyndi and their families. Hank was a wonderful family man, great friend to our family, always ready to go out for dinner with us at the spur of the moment when Bill needed his company.
