My sincerest condolences to Dolores and the Breslin & Henesy families. I have appreciated my friendship with Bres for so many years - we first met each other as adversaries in CYO basketball in the 7th grade, some 54 years ago. (He would be disappointed with me if I didn’t state that his team won.) Then I had the good fortune to become friends with him when we met later on at Holy Family, when we became teammates. As we got older, I realized what a privilege and honor it was for me to have Bres as a friend. He was always kind and helpful to the Dorney family, including my mom, and for that he will forever be appreciated. What a great friend! Please God, bless him now and grant peace and mercy to his family.

I went to Holy Family with John. We were in the same Homeroom. John was very special in that he had immense humility and was simply a great guy overflowing with Class. I admired those traits the day I met John in 1971 and had the pleasure of spending time with him recently at the Crescent C.... after 45 years had passed... Same Guy; Gregarious, Engaged, Humble, Helpful and always, Pure Class. To John's Family, my sincere condolences. He was one of the very best examples of us all and he will be missed. Dolores and family, Farewell to our dear & beloved Bres. He was the connection & leader to so many from the Holy Family DHS & Northport crowd. He was a point guard on the court and off, he controlled the ball and was very unselfish with it. He distributed the ball on the court so others could score the points , and help the team win. Later, he was the face of the Murt (HF ) golf outing, he enjoyed seeing many alumni, parents, teachers, friends come out for a day of golf & camaraderie. All the while keeping a low profile, but with the ever present smile. A quick friendly wit, that made many laugh. Later in life, my parents entrusted to John their legal matters, real estate, and last will & testament. My mother of Irish descent & long ago St. Philip Neri alumnus, was particularly fond of John. Bres came to both funerals. A man of faith & integrity . I attended Mr. . Breslin's services, and Bres gave an eulogy in tribute to his Dad, and I will never forget the Irish humor that Bres entwined. They say only the good die young, Bres was young . Farewell Bres. Your passing hurts not only your dear family, but many many folks who first knew you as that Irish kid from Northport who could dribble & pass. There are a bunch of 60+ year-olds who are silently crying on the inside. God Bless !
