Obituary of Regina M. Kelly
Please share a memory of Regina to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Regina (“Reggie”) Kelly left this world quietly, peacefully, surrounded by the laughter and chatter of her family. It was our joy to be able to give back to her the unwavering support and love that she gave endlessly and unconditionally throughout our lives.
Never wanting to be a bother or a burden, and certainly not the center of attention, Reggie was fiercely protective of her independence and her dignity, driving herself to daily Mass and exercise classes, volunteering and spending precious time with friends and family. She truly savored every moment and just kept going - always fully present for each and every one of us.
Reggie’s life had so many chapters and facets; she packed so much living into her years. She made an impression on all who knew her, not in an outward or demonstrative fashion, but as a genuine, graceful and grateful human being. She strived each day to be an instrument of love and service to her family, friends, and community, always seeking a deeper understanding of Christ’s teachings - and living them humbly and authentically.
Reggie knew when to buckle down and when to take a beach day. She would drop everything when any of us needed a listening ear, offering wisdom and encouragement in the form of witticisms and idioms that we pray will not be lost with her passing. She followed her heart and had unwavering faith in the power of love. It was in this spirit that she, as a young widow and mother of five, embarked upon a new life with a widower with five children of his own. They brought an eleventh child into this mix, as well as numerous cats and dogs over the years. Her fortitude and pure intentions in the face of uncertainty - some would even say “insanity” - inspired others to follow their hearts’ dreams. Her 11 children, 19 grandchildren, 12 (and counting) great- grandchildren, and countless friends carry the mark of her extraordinary spirit in their hearts and in their deeds, and in this way, she will always be with us.
Her soul is joyfully reunited with her predeceased son, Peter, her husbands Bob and Jim, and so many others who had the privilege of loving and being loved by Reggie during her 90 years on Earth.
