My husband and I met Spencer through rowing at Sagamore Rowing Association. He was one of the kindest, most thoughtful human beings we have ever met, and he was a strong supporter of SRA as Commodore. He was also Renaissance Man, as evidenced by his amazing photography. We had the privilege of seeing his work exhibited at the UUFH. In 2018, he asked if I would be interested a co-producing a program highlighting the challenges that Long Island faces in preserving safe drinking water, to be presented at the UUFH. He arranged all of the speakers, while I worked on marketing and PR. The event was greatly successful, and I will always treasure our partnership in this project. We will always have fond memories of Spence. Ellen and Thomas Ryan

I have fond memories of Spencer from many years rowing with him in Oyster Bay at Sagamore Rowing. He was a fine gentleman with a wonderful sense of humor. I feel honored to have known him and will miss him very much. Cliff Chabina

Spencer Ross was one of a kind and will be sorely missed. New to rowing in my fifties he loaned me his rowing machine to prepare for competitions. Within a short period of time I rowed over 1 million meters and lost 40 pounds of weight and missed a medal at the World Championships of Indoor Rowing by a tenth of a second. He was a role model to be emulated, even tempered, wise beyond his years, always seeking improvement.

Spencer was a lovely and gracious person. His kindness and devotion to the boating community will be forever remembered. He was very supportive of the efforts of the Greater Huntington Boating Council. on which he served as the SRA representative for more than a decade and rarely missed an important event. His generation of mankind is the likes of people who will never be replaced. People of honesty, sincerity, curiosity, humility and kindness. He was a good friend and mentor.
