It's almost a month since Todd left us and the reality that he is gone still feels unreal. In the first months of knowing Todd, His recent birthday was the bracing reality check I did not want. I realized that he was a person above and beyond the average guy in character, intelligence, humor, and kindness. I remember thinking "don't blow it sis, he's a keeper." Obviously, she didn't. How incredibly lucky we were as a family to have this man in our lives, and how secure I felt in his obvious ability to take care of my dear sister, and his enthusiasm in loving, raising and nurturing my Grace and Nick. My sons Gabriel and Jack adored their Uncle as well-one of my favorite memories of Todd is a most simple one, and actually occurred more than once. We were over at the house for one of the legendary barbeques that the Rowley's put on frequently during good and not so good weather. I was in the kitchen, looking out at the back patio and I there was Todd, whirling about his beloved "egg" and other grills, the smoke from the meat rising, the sun's rays so golden, piercing the thinner areas of haze. Sitting nearby was Gabriel who I'm sure wanted to help out, but was content just to hang with his Uncle. They just hung out and "shot the sh*t." Jack was running in circles in the upper part of the yard with the dogs, and I watched as he too joined the chat. Their phones were nowhere in sight, lol. They didn't need to escape into their phones when they rolled with Rowley. Todd connected with everybody, especially with his two non-neurotypical nephews. He not only made every effort to understand them, but he enjoyed them as people. When talking with Todd, he was forever present, and, if you ask me, he remains so. His impact upon me and our family is immeasurable. Wish he was here to thank him. Just wish he was here.

The Knowles family sends its sincere condolences to the Rowley family. We are so sad to hear of Todd’s passing. He worked with all four of the kids and helped them master the testing process. His kindness, patience and positive presence was so appreciated during stressful, busy years. He and I had a few memorable conversations about embracing the concept of the kids finding their own paths and encouraging their passions. I’m sure he was an amazing father. Huntington lost a special person.

Todd was such a warm and wonderful human being. He made friends everywhere he went. Though he was only an adjunct at Queensborough for a few years, he is still fondly remembered, sorely missed and bitterly mourned. I will miss his smile, our swims, and the all around good times we all spent in his company.

Dear Jill, Grace, and Nick,
With much sadness, we're adding our deepest condolences for your sudden loss of Todd. We'll always remember his friendly greetings on the block and exuberant vitality. Our fondest memories include your whole family when the kids were young - birthday parties, chatting at the bus stop. Todd was the sweetest dad - warm, supportive, and proud. He will be missed by many. Sincerely, John, Dorit, Maya, and Zeke

Deana and I were deeply saddened to hear of Todd's passing. We shared many great experiences with him at races and at the Huntington Y. He was such a gifted and smart athlete but at the same time he was always humble and down to earth. He was a joy to be around. We will keep him and his family in our prayers.

I met this great guy through the running community but think of him more off the field of competition. Todd and I thought about the world in a pretty similar way. He was funny, smart and caring. Lots of chuckles and solving world problems over the years between Todd me, our buddy David. The world was a better place with Todd in it. And the gift of his friendship will be with me for as long as I'm around. This guy was taken from us way too soon. I am so incredibly sorry for your loss. Cheers Todd.
With our love Jill and family,

Todd Rowley hanging out with some GLIRC teammates and friends after a Long Beach 10 miler. Happy days. I'd never thought I'd be writing about Todd Rowley passing away; but life has its horrible shocks. I've never heard Todd speak ill of anyone, and I've certainly never heard anyone speak ill of Todd. He was a consummate multisport athlete, and modest, friendly and gentle to boot. Whenever we met at an event or party we'd make eye contact, nod and smile, and we'd be sure we got to have a chat, usually sooner than later. It was always an added pleasure when he was accompanied by lively, lovely, friendly Jill; his wife. I'm so sorry for the loss to his family and friends. Try to remember the good stuff. Let's not sweat the small stuff; Todd never seemed to. The world is a poorer place for his passing.
