Obituary of Richard E. Latraverse

Please share a memory of Richard to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Latraverse, Richard "Dick", 97, of Huntington Station, on April 2, 2022. Loving husband of the late Rita Latraverse. Devoted father of Celeste Simonelli. Cherished grandfather of Kacey Knauer, Kathlyn Wilson and Gina Toresco. Dear brother of the late Nelson Latraverse. Richard is also survived by 4 great grandchildren Mason, Matteo, Nicholas and Lorenzo. > Richard was known as “Pop Pop” to his family. His love of family was especially strong. He loved his granddaughters and took great joy in all of their accomplishments and was very proud of the strong women they have become. He had a huge heart and would help anyone with a construction project or a plumbing issue. > > As a young man, he loved swimming in the ocean and was a semi-pro football player. He was a Mets and Jets fan and we watched many games together. He grew up in Rhode Island and then lived in College Point where he met his wife Rita. They were inseperable and went everywhere together. > > He loved the outdoors and you would always find him in the garden planting flowers and tending to the beds. > > The family would call him the “dog whisperer.” Wherever we went, dogs would find him for a very special pet and cuddle. > > His love of food was unsurpassed- especially seafood- steamers, lobster and clams were his favorites. > > He was so happy after the birth of his four grandsons and always said how blessed he felt. > > He was the absolute perfect father, grandfather and great grandfather who will always be loved. We will hold him in our hearts forever. We will miss him for the rest of our life. He was our rock.
