My Deepest Condolences to John’s Family. I remember John being my very first crush. He cut my hair at His and Hers in Bethpage/Hicksville . My Dad had a deli in the same shopping center.

I’m so very sorry to learn of Johns’ passing. We were best friends in Jr. and Senior high. His families home on Constable Ln. was like a second home. His family were wonderful people. Although we haven’t seen each other in many years, memories of some of the my best days in Levittown are those of the great times we had. RIP John, thanks for the memories.

I came to Long Island in 1983 from NYC. John was my first haircutter from Tony Dees. It was very convenient as I worked in Huntington. In the early days, John reminded me of Warren Beatty from Shampoo. I was a little intimidated. But as John moved on to Benci Benci , Haven and ultimately Cactus.. I followed him wherever he went. I trusted no other. Every 5 weeks we talked about vacations(trips to the East End), kids, parents, movies, business in general and McDonald's specific as he always gave me his true opinion(as I have worked at McDonald's for for 40 years). He was a fan and critic which I loved to hear his thoughts. We talked about slowing down as we aged but never to stop working. Most recently my wife and my youngest daughter began going to him. Completely shocked and saddened by his passing. My heart goes out to Kim and all that worked close to him. He is truly missed.

I am shocked and heartbroken to hear that John is no longer here with us. He was such a special person. He had a huge heart, and when he talked with you he made you feel like you were the only person alive. He was loved by the community, and made an impression on everyone who met him. My heart and condolences go out to Kym, and John’s entire family. Rest in peace, John. I will miss you.

We are at a loss for words. John, you were a master in your field. Mike & I loved coming to Benci Benci. It seems like ages ago but you truly look the same. You had such a zest for life and we loved talking with you and the staff. May you rest in peace and Our love and prayers to your family during this difficult time.

You were one of a kind John.
I am so happy I spoke to you last month... It was just like old times...
You and Kym and everyone that worked with us and all our clients at Benci Benci and then at Cactus have been my family.
Everyone has been reaching out. You were and always be loved by all of us...
Together we watched Gina grow up and then kids being born. I always hear the joy in your voice when you speak of them
The pride only a Grandfather can have. The happiness you felt when they were born...
It was an honor to witness all that. The love...
You were larger than life and filled room with phenomenal spirit.
You loved and accepted all people without judgement and joy in learning about them.
I am so grateful you had Kym to share these years of your life with.
Rest in Peace my dear friend. One fine day we will see you again and rejoice...
Keep our Pops, your mom and Barbara company until then... I know you are with them
Love you always...
Kym... My dear friend my heart is with you. You two were soulmates.. Love never ends... He is always with you.

Next to family, a good doctor and a good hairdresser are about the most intimate and important relationships we can have in this life. John was my hairdresser for over 25 years, and probably about the same number of hairstyles. I love coming to Cactus; it's like "Cheers" for me; everyone greets you like you're family. Someday, when the next step in my journey comes, I hope to find John in the next life and see if he'll still cut my hair! I will be forever grateful for his service, kindness, and good company. And I will really miss him.
To Kim and your whole family, including the Cactus family, I am so very sorry for your loss. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. I am hoping perhaps in some small way I can offer my support as you so often offered yours to me. With much love-Mary Beth

Way to much to say, it would be a book writing all you went through with me.
I am forever grateful to you and Kym for believing in me. Putting up with alll my shenanigans.
You were such a good man a great hairstylist and a great friend.
I’ll never forget falling off that stage,
standing all of you up because I drank to much abs couldn’t drive to my welcome home party. I will forever kick myself for that.
Seeing you in the window as I’d drive by Cactus and last but not least speaking to you about coming back to work with the gang back in Sept. I never knew how much I would hold onto the words you said to me about being a good daughter.
Thank you John.
Such such awesome memories that will last the rest of my lifetime.
Thank the Good Lord this earth is not our true home. Your there now and we shall all meet again one day.
Benci Benci Crew ♥️
Love,
Stacey K
P.S. I’m still ticked you didn’t let me go to Woodstock with Lori.

John, it was such a privilege and honor to have you in my life. You are one of those people that just make everyone around you feel good. You made me laugh everyday and we had so many inside jokes. When I left Cactus you texted me how much I was missed and funny things we would say. You made me feel so appreciated and loved. You made everyone feel that way. I loved and admired the relationship you had with Kym. True love. This is so hard, you will be missed by SO many people. As you would say, “this is bullshit”. I love you.

Out of all the photo albums you guys have shared, I have this photo saved! Nothing you loved more than tan skin, a beach and a tight bathing suit! You taught me so many things that I hold so close to my heart. Hard work, motivation, self-confidence and how to pick my Saturday jeans based on your clients coming in. You are a legend who will be so missed and never forgotten. We love you, forever, John Benci!

Dear John, I have 20 years of beautiful memories we shared together, I loved hearing you tell your stories & the way you would explain and act them out were the best! Your sense of humor was amazing, your big smile was contagious, even if I was mad at you, I couldn't stay mad at you long! As you got older, you got more humble & layed back! You were obsessed w8th.food and recipes and would share the recipes in the back room with us, oh boy and that backroom..if walls could talk lol you use to tell us girls that we spoke worse than men lol oh yes we did! I have so many happy memories of you! You always would tell me how strong and street smart I was and how you thought me and Stephanie would have a good fist fight and you would love to watch it, the memories go on and on...John I will miss u always, you know so many people loved you, and you will always have a special place in my heart! Rest in peace Love you Always ~ BarbaraAnn. G
