John was my first cousin. I remember how much fun he had visiting my Dad (his Uncle Ed) at our dairy farm in Lockport, NY.
John always had a smile and portrayed warmth.
Condolences to his daughter and those left to continue the ‘Burcyk’ legacy.

My condolences to John's family. John was my co worker going back to 1988. I admired his strength and gentle way he projected towards others. I was always happy to see Sonny in Northport every once in awhile after his retirement and we would have a few laughs. God speed Sonny rest in peace brother.

Dear family of John. Actually I was going to upload that same photo as I had convinced John to let me take the photo with my phone next to his sunflower so that he could send it to his daughter. His phone didn’t take very good pictures. I’ve lived a few doors down from John for the last 10 years. Because I walked my dog Stella down the block regularly, John and I became acquainted and shared many stories. He used to make me laugh hysterically because he called my dog by every other name but Stella, on purpose. He would call her Stephanie one day, Susan another day and the funniest was Sylvia. He was a tease and I used to tease him back. I will mostly remember John because of his dedication to his gardening expertise. Every year I would watch him plant the seeds for the wildflowers and lo and behold, They would sprout into marvelous array of beautiful colors and sizes. Amazing. He was so dedicated. He always spoke very highly of his sister in Huntington and his daughter in California. I happen to be a nurse, so John confided in me about his ongoing treatments etc. He had perseverance, I’ll tell you that. We always made each other laugh.Often would run into him in stop and shop and he would show me that he just had to have ice cream. I will miss him dearly and I’m so sorry for your loss. Rest in peace John. We’ll see each other again. God bless

Dear family of John. For 40 years he’s been my neighbor and friend. I know he was devoted to his family and I ache for your loss. He was a kind and generous man whose gardens reflected his beautiful soul.
