Your family has lost such a special person who was so important to both of us at different times in our lives. I worked with Ed at the Commerce Bank Championship and my husband worked with Ed at EAB. We were both recipients of his great humor, generosity and friendship. Such a good guy. We were shocked and saddened by his death and please know you are in our thoughts and prayers. I met Ed in my early banking days at EAB as a loan operations clerk. With a smile he would greet me and always by name. Over the decades he never forgot my name even as our paths diverged. Many times I have shared this story of Ed with others simply because I so respected his will and ability to truly know me as his employee. A great man, and a great leader. Condolences to his family and friends.

It is with profound regret that I share news of Edward Travaglianti’s passing with fellow trustees. Ed served as Long Island University’s Chairman for 7 years and was my immediate predecessor. Ed was a mentor and a colleague in both the for-profit and charitable worlds. Most important to me, Ed was my friend. He gave his time and energy freely to a Who’s Who list of charities, all the while having outstanding success in his banking career.
Please join me and the greater LIU community in sending the Travaglianti family our condolences.

I met Mr. Travaglianti around 15 years ago when I was a parent volunteer with Tomorrow’s Hope Foundation. I noticed right away how kind and down to earth he was. I became part of the annual golf fundraisers that he Chaired, attending meetings and the annual Gala. I saw how he interacted with a warm, welcoming smile and genuine charisma and was so approachable. Learning about his career, success and his generous gifts of time, talent and treasure to so many worthy causes, left a big impression on me that Ed was a wonderful man.
A few years later as I was an adult student working toward my MBA, with the National Grid program in Melville, I was tasked with interviewing someone who I thought was a great leader. I immediately thought of Mr. Travaglianti and wondered whether such a busy leader would be responsive to allowing me to come to his office and film a video interview. He responded very quickly and said he was honored and if I would like, he would come to class and let me interview him in person. When I met him at the elevator that evening, I was very nervous. He put me at ease asking, “Do I look okay?” (Of course, he looked good, just like a bank President).
The interview was a huge success as I asked him about his journey beginning in Bensonhurst, his role models, his employees, whether great leaders are born or made, philanthropy and his current passion, the values he hoped he instilled in his children and a few words that his employees would use to describe him. This was a memorable experience that I will not forget and have thought of numerous times since then. Mr. Travaglianti valued people and those who were lucky enough to interact with him valued him.
Our Sincere condolences to his family,
Eileen O’Brien & Family

When I was a little kid, I always looked up to Cousin Edward, so steadfast, serious but with a twinkle in his eye! When I was a teenager, and he had started in banking, he gave me a tour of his work; I shadowed him for a day in his office, with colleagues, meeting customers, and even reading some reports (nothing confidential!). I noticed a typo. He said, that’s small; let it go; and besides correcting it would call more attention to it. I still remember that. Good lesson in not sweating the little stuff. I thought of him when I chose my confirmation name.
Blessings on you, Dear Edward, and on Pat, Ed and Amy, Meredith and Michael, and Britton, Blair, Luke and Amelia,
Paul Joseph Edward Croce

To the family I am sorry for your loss sending prayers your way for your family and friends. Edward was a kind man; when he would visit the branches of EAB he would speak to everyone to see how we were doing! Class act be willing to speak if you needed to. Gone too soon. Now with our Lord and Savior. Continued blessings for his family and friends.

Pat, Ed, Amy, Meredith, Mike and children, our hearts are broken and the sadness we feel is all consuming. Edward had such a presence that the thought of him being gone is just unbearable. Jimmy and I will be with all of you in spirit. We had a special relationship that I will always treasure.
May all of you find peace in the knowledge that he knew he was loved by his family.
And Edward you will always be my favorite male cousin. That comment was always our personal joke.
You will never be forgotten and you will always be loved.
