Obituary of Josephine M. Boccio

Josephine Boccio née Ambrosio. Born March 14,1922 in Brooklyn NY. Died March 16, 2020 at San Simeon by the Sound in Greenport NY. Born to Charles and Nicolena Ambrosio who emigrated to NY from Naples Italy. After high school Josephine had a brief job at Macy’s Herald Square before volunteering to join the US Army as a WAC. Received honorable discharge in 1945 after WWII ended. Married John Salvatore Boccio in January 1946. Moved to Huntington LI from Brooklyn in April 1955. During her time in Huntington she was a housewife and then became a waitress at local restaurants. She loved her Neapolitan ancestry and always held true to the traditions and cooking. She is survived by her children. Paula Boccio, Nicholas Boccio, Lorraine Boccio Sylvester (Richard), Charles Boccio (Sherri), and grandsons Anthony Boccio, Nicholas Boccio and Tyler Rado. She was predeceased by her husband John in 1972 and her son John Boccio Jr. In 1997. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Funeral Mass will be held Friday 9:45 AM at St. Patrick’s Church, Huntington.
