Singing and tap dancing. Laughing and joking.
Playing cards and smoking and blowing ashes in Gene’s face because we were laughing so hard.
Never knowing what color hair she’d have the next time it saw her.
Hugs and kisses. Cuddling a shy redheaded child when she was sad.
Making pancakes in the shape of animals after I spent the night.
Laying on the floor of the back of the car when Uncle Eddie was driving.
Driving one of the first Mustangs (I think it was turquoise).
Stopping me in Macy’s as I ran in the door while shopping at work and saying as she stood eyeball to eyeball with me “I used to have a niece that looked just like you” and I got hysterical laughing and introduced her to my friend Maria as “My Crazy Aunt Mary”. She only laughed harder and hugged me tighter.
Telling me when I’d come over for a visit and rang the front door “What the hell are you doing at the front door you’re not company. Use the back door”. When I’d go around to the back door and she’d say why didn’t you come in the front. And getting hysterical laughing.
Giving me a cross for my confirmation with a diamond in it (ok, ok it was really small but still the same my first diamond).
Laughing and joking as she walked out of my parents’ house when she came for dinner and thanking them loud enough for the neighbors to hear for the lobster dinner when they had chicken.
Aunt & Godmother
LOVE
These are just a couple of cherished memories of my favorite Aunt.
I’ll miss you Aunt Mary.
Love always, Joan
