Debbie and Stephen--
Toni and I are belatedly very, very sorry to hear of your losing Charlie.
What a fine man and runner. We just read Peter Martin's column in Footnotes,
and could hardly believe it. My father passed away at 60, so I share your type of grief, and I can't believe so much time has passed since your OWN 20-miler, Debbie, for your marathon. Stephen, you are among the greatest library users Toni can ever remember, so you are both in our prayers. Saw your folks, Debbie, in church a few weeks back, but they got away before I could greet them (they were way over on the
east side, their usual faraway spot). Toni, too, sends her love and sympathy.
Your friends,
Maury and Toni

Debbie:
I am SO sorry to hear about Charlie.
Yesterday I was finally able to do more miles than Charlie at the GLIRC 6-Hour Birthday Run. As they say, "If you can't outrun them, then at least outlive them".
I will miss Charlie VERY much. He was such a great, cheerful, encouraging guy.

Charlie you will be so missed. My favorite memories of you are whenever there was a dinner or get together at my mom and dad's in Smithtown, you would always RUN there! No car driving for you. And after you arrived you were never shy about freshing up! You always followed your heart in all that you did. Peace to you and family.

We are greatly saddened by the loss of this funny, gentle man. We've known Charlie since about 1994 when my son Daniel and Charlie and Deborah's son Stephen met at a pre-school down my block. Our hearts are broken and we will miss him terribly. Our condolences to the family.

Im really sorry to here this. First and for most My condolences to all the family. Growing up with Charlie back in the 70's was definitely a experience. Always trying to be funny. I bought my house in 1991 and Charlie did some electrical work for me in 1992. He also introduced me to Model motoring when we were kids. I can't forget that I used to bug him about that all the time. He also got me started on collecting circulated coins. Telling me to buy certain coin books. Always checking our change for wheat pennies, Bicentennial quarters and other change. Wiffle ball, running bases, tackle (mini) football and of course hide n seek in the Christmas trees at Christmas time. I can remember you letting me practice driving with my permit in your TR6 down southdown road into Lloyd Harbor .You taught me how to drive a stick at the same time. That definitely was a cool car. It was a tight fit but my long legs fit. Charlie you were a great Friend. You will be sorely missed. I will NEVER FORGET the things you did for me growing up as a kid and the fun times we had together. REST IN PEACE.

Remembering Charlie as a young kid, back in my old neighborhood -
Wall Street & Mill Lane, Huntington Village.
He was a very good runner with the Super Runners Team.
His Ultra Running accomplishments ( beyond marathon distance of 26.2 mi, }
were impressive as well.
REST in PEACE, Charlie.........
Amen
