Obituary of Arthur Alan Bayley

Bayley, Arthur Alan, 88, of Huntington Station, on January 28, 2018. Arthur, affectionately known as Alan, was born and raised in Halesite, NY. He attended Huntington High School and joined the Halesite Fire Department in 1945. In his early years, he worked for Huntington based Emil Nass Automotive Shop. He married his long time sweetheart, Caroline Mayer who passed away in 2017 after 65 years of marriage. He joined Huntington Manor Fire Department in December 1956. They eventually bought land and built their family home in Huntington Station. There they raised four children; Christine A. Keener (pre-deceased by Mark), Alan G. (Nancy), Cathleen L. Martin (Curtis), and David C. (Margaret). He is survived by his beloved grandchildren; Allison Miller, Amanda VanGelder (Bayley), Caitlin Martin, Alivia Bayley, Carlee Martin, Casey Martin, Lindsay Bayley and Cole Wenner and several granddogs. Alan retried from the Town of Huntington Highway Department in 1994. Arthur was a 71 year member of the Huntington Manor Fire Department where he served as chief from 1980-1981. Visitation will be held at Huntington Manor Fire Department, 1650 New York Avenue, Huntington Station on Wednesday 7-9 PM and Thursday 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Firematic Service will be held Thursday 8 PM. A Service will be held at the fire department on Friday at 11 AM. Interment to follow at Melville Cemetery, Melville.
