I want to extend my sincerest condolences to you all.
I just viewed that lovely video you posted.
It should be titled "It's A Wonderful Life"!
So much LOVE shines through that video. You have been truly Blessed.
What wonderful memories you have to help you through this unbelievably difficult time!
Mr. Vita, as I always called him, was Asst. Prinicpal at W.T. Clarke when I started teaching there in Sept. 1977. It was my first year teaching after a 20 year absence to raise my five children, my first year in a public school, my first year in a high school?
(Before my marriage in 1957,I had taught 1st grade in St. Dominic's School in the Bronx for 3 Years)
I was filled with trepidation! I was so blessed to have "Mr. Vita" as my mentor. He was so kind and helpful! Don't know what I would have done without him! Missed him when he left Clarke!
Regret that we didn't keep in touch after that although we got together from time to time after we retired thanks to a mutual friend, Anita Tremeroli. She was East Meadows unofficial Social Director.
So sorry that I won't be able to extend my condolences in person since my granddaughter is receiving Confirmation tomorrow.

I believe it was the spring of 1981 when I was sent to Mr. Vita's office at W.T. Clarke Junior High School, and it was very uncomfortable. Mostly because I was guilty as sin for whatever my "Performance Slip" detailed, and Mr. Vita suffered my excuse no longer than a man of his accomplishments could or should have. It was one of those moments that, at the time, was miserable, but I look back on now and realize just how much patience that man must have had to do the job he did and with so much passion for leading and guiding young people. I honestly had not thought of Mr. Vita in over 30 years, but upon learning of his passing that memory, and a few more, came flooding back. Bless Mr. Vita and his service to our country and to the Clarke community. We are better for his having stood watch, and poorer now that he is gone.

The Marine Corps hymn tells us the streets of heaven are guarded by Marines. So this one is reporting for duty. God bless this good man, and the family he so loved and served.
