My Dear Uncle Frank, Fran and Brian,
There is no one like Aunt Gwen. She wore so many hats in my life. She was aunt, second mother and best friend. Her advise and straight talk helped me refocus and move forward at the toughest of times. I am happy she is at peace now reunited with the family. I am however selfish and wish she stayed.
Her love for all of you she could not describe. She looked forward to long talks with you Brian when you called her on your rides home from Riverhead or when you would surprise her and stopped for lunch. Fran all she could say is, "my son, he is so good." You kept her going with dinners in and out. Your bar-b-ques and long talks. Val and Barbara she loved that you loved her sons and grandchildren like you do. She did not worry knowing each of your relationships were strong. Brian, Kellie, James, Kevin and Chris when I would be on the phone with her and you walked in she quickly would say in excitement, "I have to go my grandson/granddaughter is here!" Then there was a click on the other end of phone...no good bye beacause her joys came for a visit.
Uncle Frank....I don't know what to say. Your marriage is an example of what Phil and I strive for. You were one. She was speechless when you took over the household and cared for her when she really got sick. She loved you so and praised you constantly even before her illness. You were each other's world.
I know you all understand why I can't be with you. I will go to mass Saturday morning in celebration of her life. She left me with lots of laughter and lessons. She will forever be in my heart and one of my greatest memories!
