Margaret Mary “Meg” Smith

Meg Smith, age 60, passed away suddenly on Monday, April 24, 2017. Meg was devoted to her family, friends and the nursing profession. Though she was small in stature, Meg lived large. Her laugh, wit and dynamic personality touched everyone she knew.

Meg was born in Toledo, Ohio on August 28th, 1956 to Robert and JoAnn McKelvey. She was preceded in death by her beloved father in 2000. Meg resided in Huntington, NY for the past 30+ years with her loving husband, Gary E. Smith. Her children, the loves of her life are Scott R. Smith, Audrey (Shaun) Barrett, and Luke R. Smith. Meg pursued her nursing career at Huntington Hospital, working in many roles. Her family, close friends and colleagues will miss her deeply.

Meg is survived by her siblings Mike (Nancy) McKelvey, Molly (Steve) LeBlanc, Marty (Lin) McKelvey, Matt (Kristin) McKelvey, Maureen (Michael) Murral and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews who all loved her very much.

In lieu of flowers the family and Huntington Hospital colleagues have established a scholarship fund in her memory at the Hofstra Northwell Graduate School of Nursing.
