John C. “Papa Jack” Kane, 97, passed away on Saturday November 26, 2016 in Community Hospice at St. Peter’s Hospital. He was born in Princeton, NJ on January 14, 1919 to the late John and Sarah Bogue Kane, and spent most of his adult life in Brooklyn. After spending a number of years on Long Island, he moved to Bethany Village three years ago, where he was still very independent, cooking his own meals and visiting with family. John was a U.S. Navy Veteran, who served from 1942 to 1945. He was a NYC Police Officer for a short while before he began his own business in stock photography, Ewing Galloway, in Manhattan. John loved to bowl, play golf, and play tennis. He always said that he lived a great life, because he was able to travel with his late wife, Grace Marie Melia Kane. Papa Jack was a family man and enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
John is survived by his children, John C. (Madeline) Kane, Jr., Michael B. (Laurel) Kane, Daniel S. (Patricia) Kane, and Maureen T. (John) Eisenhardt; eight grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.
