You will be missed by all who loved you. I will toast you with the FF mugs you gave to my dad. You will always have a special place in my life.
God Speed TJ and may you find peace and a pain-free afterlife.

TJ and I go back decades. Motorcycles brought us together but it was TJ character that cemented our friendship. Back in the day I had a motorcycle store in Huntington and TJ was always in the store. We were young, the world was ours and we were living the golden age of motorcycling. To know TJ was to know his love of life. Know one will ever forget his enthusiasm and his big smile. Over the years are friendship grew. Times may have changed but TJ didn't. - A good man with a hugh heart.
It was in recent years TJ shared with me he was a Marine which made perfect sense to me. His character, his loyalty, his passion - as they say " a few good men" and TJ was one of the few. The last couple of years were hard for TJ but he would stop in a we would talk. He was a fighter. I can tell you he never wavered and that big smile was always there.
The last time I saw him he was on his motorcycle, He had to drop some stuff off to the doctor and stopped by to say hi. He looked really good. He shared that one doctor had given him "the all clear" in August but another doctor had found something. He wasn't happy but he was getting ready for another battle.
When he was leaving he saw Marine decal and he said I want that. He bought it and we walked outside to look at that bike. A great big motorcycle - we talked about some of the changes he made to the bike and some of the changes he was going to make in the future. He had to go, We hugged like bikers do, I told him I loved him and told him to keep in touch. He drove off. and was on his way. Yesterday his wife called and told me TJ had lost his last battle. I'm a better man because of TJ and he will always be just a thought away. Semper fi my friend

We met sometime in the early 70s just after Tom left the Marines while I was still going to Stony Brook with his Huntington neighbor Stuie. We became fast friends and had many insane adventures during the 70s and 80s until my career finally took me off Long Island for good. Over 40 years later Tom was still one of my dearest friends even though the hundreds and now thousand mile distance meant we saw less and less of each other during the intervening years. First it was a few times a year, then yearly at Thanksgiving until my Mom moved off LI in 2012. For the past few years it was more sporadic as the ties with LI have slowly been severed, but we never failed to get together to renew our long friendship for at least a few hours whenever I did return.
Last time I was on LI was April of 2015 to work on closing up my Mother's house and Tom had just retired. His help never materialized so I spent a day moving him out of the place he'd rented in Melville for many years. It was the most time we'd had together in more than 20 years. We talked and laughed as we loaded his bikes in the truck and carried stuff out of the house, then later sat down and had a great dinner together. Chinese, our favorite. It was the last time I would ever spend with him.
I knew he was hurting then and guess deep down I realized this day was inevitable, but like a guy I shrugged it off thinking we still had time. And while I wish we had spoken more towards the end I think maybe he wanted to me to remember him as he was, not as fate had laid him low. Distance and circumstance prevent me from coming to LI for the memorial (and I have much less reason to go back there now that he's gone), but that doesn't mean I won't be hoisting a glass to him.
Rest well old friend. Fran and I will always love you.
Gork!

Tom I'm so glad we got a chance to visit that one last time over in Greenport. Even though you were already going through radiation treatments and you were taking a beating, you still made the effort to drive your bike over and hang with us. But that was always you- all or nothing :) we will always have our great memories of you- the Historical Cemetery Watermelon caper, Heckscher Park, going to StonyBrook to visit your friend lol. Nothing and no one will ever take them away from us. Rest easy darling, and play with your pups. All is well...and that is all. PS thanks for the Dead song Friday, I know that was you xo
