Born July 1, 1931 in Mount Vernon, NY, Bob moved to Long Island as a young boy. He
attended Malverne High School, where he met and fell in love with his future wife of 58
years, Joan Barth.
Upon graduating from Wagner College, he began his career in 1952 as a mechanical
engineer with Johnson Service Company. After a brief employment in his father’s firm,
Jansen and Rogan, he returned to Johnson Controls (formerly Johnson Service Company)
as National Sales Manager where he remained until retirement. Bob was a Korean War
Veteran, serving on the USS Saipan. He received his honorable discharge in 1955.
A Huntington resident since 1961, Bob made many lasting friendships through his
associations with church, little league, and Centerport Yacht Club. He loved barbecuing
with his family, swimming at Bay Crest and was a loyal Brooklyn Dodger/ Mets fan.
Most of all, he loved the game of golf. As a member and former president of Huntington
Country Club, he spent most of his leisure time on the course or traveling with friends to
play other courses across the country. Instilling in his sons and grandchildren that same
passion, he loved nothing more than a competitive round with his family, followed by a
Sunday night family dinner.
Bob is survived by his five children: Kim, Charles, John, Robert, and James, their
spouses, thirteen grandchildren and one great-grandson.
