Hubbs, Frances L, 85. Lifelong resident of Huntington, passed on June 21, 2015. Beloved wife of the late Charles. Loving mother of William (Beebe) and Marianne Bassford. Cherished grandmother of 2 grandchildren: Anna and Lucas and one step grandchild Sean. Dear sister of Frank Bolero and Anna “Lou” Deriso. Frances had a 50+ year career at the Huntington Medical Group as the Head of the Medical Lab and later as a Compliance Officer. In addition to her career, “Fran” was dedicated to numerous local service organizations and held numerous leadership positions in the following organizations: VFW Post 1469 Ladies Auxiliary, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Greenlawn Post 1244 , the Catholic Daughters and St. Hugh of Lincoln Church Parrish Council & Outreach Ministry and scripture reader. “Fran” was a member of the Columbiettes for over 50 years and held leadership positions both locally and on a state level. Fran’s commitment to serving the community was surpassed only by her faith in God and she lived teaching us all, that to give is greater than to receive. Visitation at M.A. Connell Funeral Home, 934 New York Ave., Huntington Station, on Wednesday, 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Mass at St. Hugh’s Church, Huntington Station, Thursday at 9:30 AM. Interment at Calverton National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Visiting Nurse Service and Hospice of Suffolk, Inc., 505 Main St., Northport, NY 11768.
