It takes time to realize how important someone is and the contribution they make. Arlene was a beautiful person with an even more beautiful spirit. She was generous, kind and courageous. Although she struggled with her illness, she never gave up. I am thankful for her as a friend and co-worker. Once, she gave me a glowing picture of Jesus as the Good Shepherd. Arlene inspired the kind of care and love that we should bring to the people we work with. God bless her and her family. May she rest in peace.

Arlene was such a kind and caring presence in the office and she will be truly missed. Although our interactions were limited to the occasional chat or email, her warmth and dedication made a big impression. She had such a gift for listening to others, she would remember the smallest details about a person—the name of a pet, a favorite color, a necklace—Arlene would always remember and find a way to share them with you. It was just part of what made her a thoughtful and caring person to work with. I will miss hearing stories about her beloved bulldogs, her unique sense of style and her kindness.

I had the opportunity to have Arlene in my life, as a co-worker, for quite a few years. She is truly a very determine and loyal individual. Nothing could stop her from her goals. She was an extremly considerate individual who was always aware of the needs of the people in her circle of life. I was very lucky to have been in her circle of life. I appreciate all that I learned from being in that circle. I will miss her very much. May you rest in peace Arlene. God Bless.

I had the pleasure of having Arlene as a secretary and the honor of having her as my friend. Her compassionate nature, strength, and dedication are just a few of the attributes which made her stand out like a shining star. She had a smile that could warm up a room and an infectious laugh that could warm your heart. Arlene was truly a rare gem and words cannot fully express how deeply she will be missed.

It is hard to put together words to describe how my Aunt Arlene impacted my life. Ever since I could remember, she had been the most kind-hearted, generous person I had ever met. We had so much in common, many things that I did not share with anyone else in our family. Our taste in music, our sense of style, it is what set us apart from the others. I will always continue this way of life, now in her memory. Never will I forget the things she has done for me or the ways we connected. I love you and miss you so much Aunt Arlene.

Although Arlene and I never got to know one another on a personal level, besides the occasional high and a shared smile, she was still a part of the Richard T. Lau family where we all spend most of our time together. She has made an impact on so my lives and in so many ways. With me, I adored her taste in clothing and couldnt wait to see what she wore next. She was the best dressed in the office -with her flamboyant colors and exotic taste in the clothes she wore truly contributed to her personality - Not to mention the numerous heels in every color imaginable! Her passing has touched my heart and my deepest sympathies and prayers are with her family, as well as the family she shared with us.

I came to her when I was desperate and cold.
Her hands were warm and kind.
Right from the start I knew I'd be hers and she'd be mine.
Whatever things in life she had,
With me she'd always share.
If people have a heaven, then
I know I'll see her there.

Arlene, you will be greatly missed. I feel so fortunate to have had the opportunity to have you as a co-worker and friend. You were a very special and caring person. When you worked as a fellow secretary on the Kings team with me, I will never forget your kind words when I lost my special kittie "Fluffy" and how you brought me the two little stuffed kitties as a remembrance. Your kind ways and giving to innocent animals will never be forgotten. Your bravery through all of your painful suffering is to be commendated. I will miss you and your beautiful smiles and will never forget you. I hope you find peace and happiness in your new resting place now. Always and Forever your friend! Lynne

Like the relationships of so many co-workers, my relationship with Arlene was limited to a passing smile, hello or brief work-related conversation, as I never had the opportunity to truly work alongside of her. Just knowing that this obviously friendly person who I had seen almost daily over the past 8 years will no longer be there fills me with sadness. I don't know what ailed her, but it's clear from reading the words of others who knew her better that she was living a life filled with pain. I hope there is now peace - for her and those who loved her.

Poem of Life:
Life is but a stopping place,
A pause in what's to be,
A resting place along the road,
to sweet eternity.
We all have different journeys,
Different paths along the way,
We all were meant to learn some things,
but never meant to stay...
Our destination is a place,
Far greater than we know.
For some the journey's quicker,
For some the journey's slow.
And when the journey finally ends,
We'll claim a great reward,
And find an everlasting peace,
Together with the lord.

Arlene, you will be greatly missed. I’m glad I had the opportunity to know you. Your love of life and the passion you demonstrated for the things you loved is something worthy to admire, and I can only aspire to imitate. The way your face lit up when you spoke of your “babies” and how committed you were to them showed your selfless spirit. Even in your pain, you would always think of others first, and worry about whether we had lunch or if the candy tub was filled. You brightened up the office, as I am sure you brightened up the lives of those dear to you as well. You will not be forgotten Arlene. Your smile, your laughter and your kindness will forever live. May you rest in peace.

When I begin thinking about Arleneie, it’s hard to think of anything specific at once, instead only an array of memories come flooding to mind. From staring at her gorgeous outfits and petting her fluffy bags, joking about bikini lady in the parking lot, to sharing foods and hot sauce with her, to the time she came over one morning to give me a few sea shells for my desk that she picked up while walking on the beach over the weekend. Arlene’s creativity and zest for life made her seem like a cool breeze on a summer day. She has taught me more than some whom I’ve known my entire life, and it’s a blessing to have crossed paths with her. Muah** Arleneie.

It is truly heartbreaking to learn of Arlene's sudden passing. Arlene was someone who would strive to come to work, sometimes in defiance of her physical limitations. She wanted to make a positive contribution and has left a lasting mark on our office by her courage and kindness. Some of us did not realize the effort that it took for Arlene to get to the office and work a full day. Some of us did not realize the effort that it took for Arlene to sometimes walk from the front door to her cubicle in the far corner of the office. But hopefully we know all realize that the woman we saw working here last week was one of the bravest and courageous among us. I will never forget Arlene and how much she gave to all of us at State Farm who witnessed her daily efforts, her personal strength and her exceptional determination. You have set the bar very high for those who follow in your path, but we will honor your memory by trying to do so.
