Obituary of Mildred M. O'Connor

Mildred Margaret O'Connor (Healy) O'CONNOR - Mildred Margaret (nee Healy), of Huntington, NY, on August 13, age 75. Devoted and loving wife of the late William F. O'Connor, Jr., sister of Frank Healy. Beloved mother of Brian, William III, Mary, Patrick and Kerri; grandmother of Nora, John, Hugh, Katelyn, Jack, Meghan and Sean. Mildred was born and raised in Manhattan. She received her nursing degree from St. Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie, NY, and Bachelor of Science in nursing from Columbia University Teacher's College. An RN who worked as head nurse at Columbia Presbyterian and later LIJ Medical Center and Huntington Hospital, she was the associate director of nursing at the Lutheran Center for the Aging in Smithtown, NY, for nearly 20 years. She earned the coveted Nurse of Distinction Award from New York State in 1992. Mostly, she will be remembered for her joy of life and laughter that she passed down to her children, grandchildren and all who came to know, love and respect hr. Our loss is Heaven's gain. Visiting hours on Saturday, 7-9 pm and Sunday, 2-4 and 7-9 pm, MA Connell Funeral Home, 934 New York Ave, Huntington Station. Funeral Mass on Monday, St. Patrick's R.C. Church at 9:45am. Burial to follow at St Patrick's Cemetery in Huntington.
