Obituary of Alice M. Whitney

WHITNEY - Alice M. passed away quietly surrounded by family and friends on July 28, 2014 at her home in Huntington Station, NY. Beloved wife of John (deceased), cherished mother of John S. Whitney, Susan Whitney, Richard P. Whitney, Patricia L. and her husband Santo Feraco and Allison A. Whitney. Devoted grandmother of Thomas, Sean, Kathleen and Michael. Loving friend of Noa, Finnigan, Wisp, Stormy, Vin and Annabelle. Alice was a retiree of the Visiting Nurse Service of Northport where she worked in the field as an aide and later in the administration office. Throughout her life, Alice was exceedingly active in her parish of St. Hugh of Lincoln R.C. Church in Huntington Station. With her husband John, Alice formed the St. Hugh Folk Family that brought music and community to the Sunday 11 am Mass for more than a decade. Alice and John also established the teen Rap Group program that brought teens and leadership couples together on a weekly basis.he was also a member of St. Hugh Productions and volunteered on many outreach organizations and committees. Alice also served as an Eucharistic Minister. Alice was active in the Homemakers of Huntington in which she served as its secretary. Alice loved her family, friends, church and community and they loved her too. Visitation at M.A. Connell Funeral Home, 934 New York Ave., Huntington Station on Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Mass will be held at St. Hugh's Church on Friday at 9:30 AM.
