Obituary of Joseph P. Kavanagh

KAVANAGH - Joseph P., of Huntington, New York, passed away on May 27, 2014, at the age of 74. Born in Queens, New York, toJoseph and Francis Kavanagh. He lived most of his life on Long Island. Joe was proud to have been a naval officer and part of the military family. He subsequently worked most of his professional career in the banking industry, and earned the title of SVP before retiring. In his spare time he enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, playing golf and watching TV; especially Jeopardy, C-SPAN, golf, baseball and football. Beloved fatherof Marie (Lennon), Patricia(Edwards) and Joseph Kavanagh Jr. Joe was an extremely proud grandfather ("Poppi" or "Hampa") of Patrick Lennon, Alexa Edwards, Lindsey Lennon, Elisa Lennon and MichaelLennon. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Maria; his brother Edward; his sister Margaret; as well as many loving cousins, nieces, nephews, and other friends. Family and friends may visit at M.A. Connell Funeral Home , 934 New York Avenue , Huntington Station Friday,2 to 4 & 7 to 9 PM. Mass Saturday 9:30 AM at St.Patrick's Church. Interment St. Patrick's Cemetery.
