Margaret E. "Peggy" (Leiblein) Vergis Margaret Elizabeth Vergis 1940-2013, 72, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, November 13, 2013. Born and raised in Huntington Station, NY, Peggy graduated from Walt Whitman High School class of '58.Founder of "Citizens for a Better Huntington Station." Peggy was the recipient of the 2005 'Women of Distinction Award' which was presented to her by State Senator Carl Marcellino. Her commitment to improving the quality of life in Huntington Station was unwavering.Her love of the beach and the salt air was only exceeded by her great love of spending time with her family and friends.Peggy was preceded in death by her husband Hugh "Bud" Vergis. Peggy leaves behind her two children, Melissa Marasciullo, and Michael Vergis and their spouses, Paul Marasciullo and Kristin Vergis, and five grandchildren, Joseph Marasciullo, David Marasciullo, Katie Marasciullo, Tommy Vergis and Sam Vergis, as well as her sisters, Carol Keane and Ethel DelAquilla. Known as Grandma Beach, she referred to her grandchildren as "her babies".Many thanks to Peggy's caregivers from The VNS Hospice House. In lieu of flowers donations may be made out to The VNS Hospice House, 101 Laurel Rd. East Northport, NY 11731.Calling hours are Sunday, Nov. 17th from 3-6pm at M.A. Connell Funeral Home, 934 New York Avenue, Huntington Station, NY 11746.A funeral service will be conducted at M.A. Connell Funeral Home, on Monday at 9:30 a.m. followed by burial at Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton, NY.
